Friendship is not measured by time but by the memories shared and moments spent together, memories to be loved and cherished together.
The greatest gift of life is friendship and I have received it. I have received a friendship where I can have fun and learn at the same time to have a friend, who motivates you daily, who picks you up when you have fallen and who is always there as a working partner is one of the priceless things in life.
I didn’t believe the power of being in an exchange program until I started participating in the African-German Youth Exchange Initiative after my experience, I now believe that youth exchange can help change some of the assumptions and preconceived ideas in our societies. Because people are not likely to accept the change from within their societies rather than from the outside. That’s why I strongly believe that an exchange experience is a good experience for a growing teenager.
The exchange helped me to overcome my fears of interaction with other people from other countries. It has helped so much in boasting my confidence, I now can confidently talk to everyone from anywhere. I am proud to say that I have made so many friends, whom I can rely on, whom I learn from on a daily basis. It is such a great feeling to have a friend, who you can learn with and as well as have fun with.
I am hoping that I make more friends and I continue with my journey of being a leader even after the exchange. The lessons I learned will stay with me forever and my belief in cultural exchange will never leave me. This is how we can really learn about others.
